The 2009 Annual Banquet presented by Snipes Insurance Service held on January 15 proved once again to be full of big surprises. Meadow Village Restaurant catered the meal and as usual was delicious and there was plenty for hearty appetites. Presentation of DACC's 2009 Program of Work and Annual Report presented a good overview of all the activities and events the Chamber was involved in over the past 12 months. Over 300 guests enjoyed the evening which began with the delightful music of students from the Cape Fear Valley School of Violin, directed by Pam Kelly. The Beautiful decorations were done by Flower Garden and balloon artist, Terry Whittenton.
Special Congratulations....to Renee Ellmers and William B. (Abe) Elmore, our 2008 Woman and Man of the Year and the Home Building Center our 2008 Small Business of the Year and to Machine Welding Supply Company, Business of the Year 2008. All awards were well deserved.
Congratulations...to Shelley Tinsley on receiving the 2008 Ambassador of the Year Award. Shelley made the most business visitations with 73 personal visits and attended several Ribbon Cuttings, Business After Hours, and City Clean ups. She and all the other ambassadors did a great job in 2008! So a Big THANKS to Shelley and all our 2008 Ambassadors!!
Beautification Awards were presented at thsi year's Annual Banquet to DACC members. The awards were presented by the Beautificaiton & Image Committee in an effort to recognize emembers taht have contributed to the beauty of Dunn through major exterior renovations, landscaping and/or cleanup or new construction with major landscaping.
Members Receiving the awards are:
Gray Metal South-for major landscaping, fencing and lighting that they incorporated into construction of their new office building.
Dr. Terrill Brown-Cape Fear Podiatry-Major landscaping at his new facility.
Billy R. Godwin, Jr. - Major renovations including exterior to his new office location.
First Federal Bank - Curb and sidewalk work and planting of trees at the parking lot next door to the bank on Highway 421 cooridor.
City of Dunn - for landscaping and light fixtures and other additional work to enhance the Machine & Welding Parking Lot and the Parking Lot on Clinton Ave and for Edging of the curbs and sidewalks throughout the City.
Elmore's of Dunn- for exterior renovations and improvements to the downtown property now used by DeBorah's Restaurant.
Joe Tart -Tart Law Group, PA-for tranformation of this office's corner on Broad Street in Dunn with beautiful signage and landscaping.
Mr Gale Tart and Circle Enterprises-for their gracious cooperation in providing the land for the Dunn sign on the east side of Dunn at Exit 73, and the partnering with the Chamber to incorporate the fencing with the sign project.
Mr. Blaine Everhart-for contribution of his tiem and resources to oversee the cosntruction of both Dunn signs planned and coordinated by the B&I Committee. He served as volunteer contractor.
Steven Neuschafer-for beining instrumental in helping the committee achieve some very challenging goals. Going above and beyond his duties as City Planner.
