Ella Kelly, Chairman of the Dunn Farmers Market Committee for the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce announced today that “the Chamber is taking applications for vendors for this year’s market.” The Dunn Farmers Market is set to open on Saturday, May 2. The market is located in the parking lot behind Sherry’s Bakery on Clinton Avenue in Downtown Dunn. Terry and Dawn Moody will continue to serve as the Market’s Manager and Coordinators.
Plans are already underway to host a special event each month at the Market including a Strawberry Shortcake Bake off; Health and Nutrition Fair, Patriotic Pet Contest, Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest, Honey and Soap Demonstrations and Trick a Treat.
“I am so excited about the future of this market and its opportunity for local farmers to sell their products,” according to Mrs. Kelly. “Last year’s market was a success and we are expecting the popularity to continue to grow. It’s an economical and safe place to purchase local produce, crafts and much more. It’s a great thing for our growers and our community!”
The Dunn Farmers Market will be open to the public every Saturday through October from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Those growing their produce or making homemade items can get an application to join the market at the Chamber office located at 209 West Divine Street in Dunn. The cost to join is only $50 per year and will give the vendor the opportunity to sell their products each Saturday. Vendors can also choose to pay $15 per week if they do not want to become a season member. For more information, call the Dunn Chamber at 910-892-4113.
