 A Welcome Home and Appreciation Reception for Lt. General Lloyd J. Austin, III, Commanding General, 18th Airborne Corp, was held on Monday, June 1, 2009 from 5-7pm at the Brass Lantern Steak House. The reception was held to honor General Austin for his leadership as the Commanding General of the 18th Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg.
On behalf of the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce, City of Dunn, and the Dunn Area Tourism Authority, Dunn Mayor Oscar Harris welcomed General Austin and his wife Charlene with over 100 area residents on hand. Other dignitaries including North Carolina Congressman Bob Etheridge, retired General Dan McNeill, Harnett County Commissioners Chairman Tim McNeill and Benson Mayor Wiliam Massengill Jr, all showed their appreciation to General Austin and the troops he commands for their great service to the United States.
