Ideally located, with I-95 going through Dunn and I-40 just 6 miles away, the Dunn area provides quick and easy access to other metropolitan areas, educational opportunities and prime vacation destinations.  Dunn is approximately 25 minutes from the Fort Bragg/Fayetteville area with easy access via Interstate 95.  The soon to be complete I-295 will take Dunn citizens easily and quickly to Fort Bragg’s front door.  We are approximately 45 minutes from the RTP area with easy access via Interstate 40.  Dunn is just 1 hour from the golfing mecca at Pinehurst, less than 2 hours from the North Carolina beaches and less than 4 hours to the North Carolina mountains.

Within one hour’s drive, you will find 12 four-year colleges and universities including Harnett County’s own, Campbell University, the second largest private university in the state.  Other world-class universities just up the street include the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University in Raleigh and Duke University in Durham.  The surrounding area is home to four technical and community college facilities including Central Carolina Community College with five campuses in Harnett County including the new Dunn Center; and the Triangle South Enterprise Center, which offers continuing education, computer and business classes.

Harnett Health, a private not-for-profit healthcare organization, provides health care services to our residents through Betsy Johnson Hospital, located in Dunn, and the new Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington.  Services offered at the 101-bed inpatient Dunn facility include emergency services; outpatient surgery; diagnostic imaging; birthing center; hospitalists for critical care; med-surg and pediatrics; breast care; rehabilitation services and cardiac rehabilitation.  The Dunn area is also served by a kidney center, cancer center, various medical centers, dental and optometric care to meet all your health care needs.

Harnett Health is committed to providing quality healthcare to the residents of Harnett County and surrounding communities.  As a private, not-for-profit healthcare organization based in Harnett County, their healthcare system encompasses a network of facilities throughout the county and surrounding communities and has more than 250 credentialed providers.

Their flagship hospital, Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn offers 101 inpatient nursing beds for Medical, Surgical, Telemetry, Critical Care, Pediatrics and Maternal/Child (Birthing Center); a 24-hour Emergency Department with an ER Express program; 4 operating rooms and 2 minor procedure rooms; Imaging, including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography; Cardiovascular Diagnostics; Critical Care Unit; Laboratory and Outpatient Surgery.

Physicians and services Harnett Health offers includes multiple specialties at Betsy Johnson Hospital including: Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Endoscopy, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Gynecology, Hospitalist Medicine, Obstetrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pathology, Podiatry, Radiology and Urology.

Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington, only a 25 minute drive from Dunn, offers 50 private inpatitnet nursing rooms for Medial, Surgical and Telemetry; a 24-hour Emergency Department with ER Express; three surgery suites and a minor procedure room; Imaging, including CT, Ultrasound and Mammography; and Cardiovascular diagnotics. services, outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, and inpatient nursing with 50 private rooms.

Harnett Health also has primary care physician clinics in Dunn as well as in nearby Angier, Coats, Lillington and  Buffalo Lakes.

Harnett Health offers Pediatric and Specialty Clinics in Dunn including Premiere Pediatrics, Wound Care Center, Harnett OB/GYN, and Harnett Ear, Nose & Throat.  In addition, they have the following Premiere Pediatrics of Lillington, Othropaedics & Sports Medicine, and The Cancer Center at Central Harnett Hospital.

Three parks including the completely modernized Tyler Park, and a caring resourceful staff affords every child in the Dunn area the opportunity to participate in the sport of their choice. Dunn’s Parks include a walking trail, playground equipment, Miracle Field, tennis courts, splash pad, Veteran’s Memorial and Gardens, adult sports, racquetball, and a recreation center with fitness center and gymnasium.

Recreation

From our very own Dunn-Erwin Trail to the nearby Cape Fear River Park and Raven Rock State Park, our area offers walking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, camping, fishing, and picnicking for family exercise or simply relaxation. Carolina Skateland and Buffaloe Lanes provide endless fun for the entire family. The family can also enjoy the sites at Animal Ed.ventures, a hands-on zoo located in nearby Coats. Dunn is less than an hour from the State Capital, which offers several museums, a variety of sporting and concert events and the annual State Fair.

Great golf is easy to find with Chicora, Sandy Ridge and Keith Hills less than 15 minutes from Dunn. The famous golf of Pinehurst is just an hour’s drive from Dunn and the championship courses in Myrtle Beach are two hours away.

History

General William C. Lee Airborne Museum is located in our Downtown Business District and the Averasboro Battlefield Museum is just 5 minutes from our city limits. Both offering residents and tourists a great opportunity to learn and experience part of our nation’s history. Other historical locations and museums in the area include Coats History and Cotton Museum, Lundy–Fetterman Museum and Exhibit Hall, and Summerville Presbyterian Church just to name a few.

Culture

Our area celebrates its past and present with 11 area festivals including Dunn’s own North Carolina Cotton Festival, General William C. Lee Celebration and Link Wray Festival. Festivals in the area include Benson’s Mule. Days and Fourth of July Celebration; Erwin’s Denim Days; Angier’s Crepe Myrtle Festival and Bike Fest; Lillington’s Fall Festival and the oldest festival in the area – Coats Farmers Day.

Entertainment

The Harnett Regional Theatre presents live productions each year at the Stewart Theatre and nearby Campbell University offers concerts, sporting events and live theatre. The Chamber is the host for the annual Boogie on Broad Concert Series which offers free concerts and family fun for area residents. Benson hosts Southern Gospel’s State Singing Convention every year in June.
